So now, if upon closer inspection
You’ve come to realize that your selection
Was far worse than unwise,
Remember you bought it and broke it
You were charmed when he spoke it
Bigotry, misogyny, hate undisguised.
It was you who charted our course
No refunds for your buyer’s remorse
All your excuses won’t make it undone
While those who worried were calling on strangers
You ignored the warnings of friends and neighbors
Now for all of us, the nightmare has begun.
You’ll practice compliance
Bend in anticipatory obedience
Do whatever it takes to survive.
Recite a rosary of mea culpas
Beg for mercy for all of us
As the dictator’s minions arrive.
